Indicator description	The indicator measures the share of R&D personnel in Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressed in full-time equivalents (FTE) as a share of the labour force. It covers the business enterprise (BES), government (GOV), higher education (HES) and private non-profit (PNP) sectors.
Data source and methodology	The indicator enables monitoring of human resources engaged in research and development in Bosnia and Herzegovina and comparison with data for the European Union and other countries based on the same methodology. It therefore provides information on the country’s research and development capacity and the human resources available for research and development activities.
Coverage and comparability	Data for Bosnia and Herzegovina cover personnel directly engaged in research and development (R&D), including researchers and other personnel providing direct support to R&D activities. R&D personnel as a share of the labour force accounted for 0.14% in 2020 and 2021, 0.17% in 2022, 0.20% in 2023 and 0.19% in 2024. The data are expressed in full-time equivalents (FTE) as a percentage of the labour force. The source for the national presentation is the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHAS), using the Eurostat methodological definition of SDG indicator 9.30.
National context and objectives	No specific quantitative target has been established for this indicator at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Progress is monitored by tracking changes over time in the share of R&D personnel in the labour force.

Indicator description	The indicator measures the share of R&D personnel in the following institutional sectors: business enterprise (BES), government (GOV), higher education (HES) and private non-profit (PNP). Data are presented in full-time equivalents (FTE) as a share of the labour force.
Data source and methodology	The indicator is part of the EU Sustainable Development Goals indicator set and is used to monitor progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 9 on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation. Research and development and innovation are important drivers of competitiveness and employment in a knowledge-based economy.
Coverage and comparability	Research and development provide an important basis for the creation of new knowledge, technological development and innovation. The indicator covers researchers and other personnel providing direct support to R&D activities. Monitoring their share of the labour force provides information on the development of human resources engaged in research and development. Eurostat monitors progress through changes in the indicator value over time.
EU context and objectives	No specific quantitative target value has been established for this indicator at EU level. Progress is assessed based on changes in the indicator value over time.
